Inspiration > Influence

Reflecting on people who have profoundly inspired me, at the top of my list I would proudly have to say, Mansa Musa, Nimrod, Jean Baptiste Point DuSable, and Fred Hampton stand out. As visionary builders of information in diverse ways they all contributed significantly to history as Black men who recognized the critical role of communication to foster understanding and progress among diverse communities.

Mansa Musa, also known as the richest person in history, not only amassed grand wealth but also erected mosques and centers of learning across his pilgrimage route to Mecca, where he showered his path with gold. His generosity and investment in education served as beacons of cultural exchange and knowledge dissemination.

Nimrod, the mighty hunter, from biblical narratives, endeavored to unite humanity through the Tower of Babel, a giant communication temple to organize and grow his people to new heights, yet divine intervention altered its course. His ambition highlighted the complexities and abilities of human communication at a very early stage in civilization.

Jean Baptiste Point DuSable, revered as Chicago's founder, forged bonds of trust with Native American tribes, facilitating trade and cultural exchange that laid crucial trade routes still vital today. His diplomacy and integration efforts were a staple in bridging communities. The growth into the City of Chicago is a testament to his desire to help build for others.

Fred Hampton, a visionary leader of the Black Panther Party in Chicago, dedicated his life to advocating for social justice and empowering marginalized communities. Through his activist platform, and speeches, Hampton created unity through solidarity and resistance, challenging systemic injustice and amplifying the voices of the oppressed.

These men are visionary figures from different eras who shared a common goal of fostering unity and progress using communication. Their diverse contributions can inspire new ways to communicate, transcend barriers, amplify voices, and promote understanding globally, not to mention what organized communication means in revenue and economics. By harnessing their collective visions of innovation and inclusivity, such a tool can embody their legacy by empowering individuals and communities to connect and collaborate in meaningful ways.
